Different Perspective

Ahhh downtown Denver!

Last night, a song was playing on the radio that triggered a memory.  It got me thinking of all the fun times I've had.  With the Nuggets in the playoffs, I'm craving the "Mile High" country.

It's been 10 years since I divorced my first husband.  Shortly after my divorce, I moved to Denver, Colorado.  The movers packed a truck, I loaded up the Camry and we were headed to our new adventure.

I LOVED Denver.  The first week, I got a flat tire and didn't have anyone to call!  I didn't know anyone!  I had some funky custom wheels, which didn't have a key, so I couldn't get the lug nuts off.  Luckily, a very nice Hispanic man, who didn't speak an ounce of English, pulled over to help me.  I was saved!  We rigged the tire and just barely made it to the tire store.

I loved when the neighbors came to visit, they didn't ask you what church you belonged to.  It didn't matter.  They offered their friendship to anyone.  At Halloween, we stocked up on tons of candy because we were in a new neighborhood and assumed we would have a lot of trick-or-treaters.  I found out that most of the newly married couples were in their late 20's, just out of college and hadn't started a family.  WHAT A CONCEPT!

I remember the first time I attended the Cherry Hills Community Church.  I was amazed at the spirit, enthusiasm and amazing people there.  You could go in your golf clothes, dresses, pants, shorts...whatever!  There were educated pastors, who actually motivated you to be a better person.  The entertainment was heavenly.  I was so blessed to see religion from a different perspective.  It was so nice to move out of "the compound."

I have many stories to share about Denver.  But what I love most is that it made me look at life from a different perspective and my perspective changed.

Denver highlights:  Falling in love with sushi, shopping & dining at the Park Meadows Mall, Papadeaux's, Champs, sweating at the Highland's Ranch Rec Center, BMX biking, Av's Hockey, beer & peanuts at Rockies games, freezing cold Bronco games, rockin' with the men's choir at the Disco church, Kathy Wagley drama, pedicures and open spaces!

Harold and I need a trip to the "Mile High" city!

"That's Our Boy"

We appreciate everyone who showed support for Kenny's graduation.  When he got his Bachelor's Degree, he said to hold off the celebration until he got his Master's.  Well the time had come to put Kenny in the spotlight.

Mission accomplished!

This week has been all about Kenny.  Thursday night, we celebrated with family and friends at The Desert Edge in Trolley Square.  We really enjoyed spending time with Kenny's friends.
