What Doesn't Kill You...

Last August we got a diabetes wake up call.  Harold's blood sugar numbers have never been really high.  He was able to keep his A1C down with diet and exercise.  After getting two blisters on his feet, that immediately got infected and turned into ulcers, we learned some people's numbers don't show how insulin resistant they are are.

The last 10 months Harold has either been restricted to sitting, or in a cast.  Last week, he was able to put shoes on both feet for the first time in 10 months.  Progress!

We now know the damage diabetes can cause on a body.  Unfortunately, we have tried to find answers  to his health problems since I married him.  Not one doctor linked the issues to diabetes.  Finally, a podiatrist referred us to a endocrinologist, who immediately told us what was wrong.

So we are at the end of a long journey this year, having gone through another scare with atrial fib, casts,  tendon surgery, infections and a lot of sitting around.  But watch out!  I have a new car and it's time to travel!

Poor arm before surgery.  Bicep muscle tore right off the bone.

We had everyone over for a Father's Day BBQ.  It's was so nice to spend time with everyone!
