I'm sick and tired of the corruption that goes on every day in politics. Last night the news reported about Herriman City, and the building that took place without any bids. The disheartening fact is that we all think it's bad, but we'll do nothing to stop it. We will sit in our comfortable homes, drink a cold beverage and say "That's so wrong!" We don't bother going to the city council meetings to make officials more accountable. Check out the article below!

Sailing back to London
Viking ship-Oslo, Norway
Damn, the vacation is over!
Oslo was very pretty. They have a great economy and very small population. Anyone want to build town homes in Norway?
The casino Gods have not been very nice to us. Harold and I did all the usual tricks, but only broke even. Vegas baby...Vegas!
We have been looking into Christmas cruises, but we are thinking we are going to stay home and vacation in Salt Lake. A day of skiing, a day of massages, a day of snowmobiling...we could party there for a week, couldn't we? And we would sleep in our own beds that don't rock in the night. (Not going to take that one any further, hahaha)
Souvenirs are very lame. Please don't hate us for not bringing home tacky presents. It turns out our clothes, jewelry, hats and t-shirts are better in Utah.
So...we'll be home tomorrow night. Julie, have the kids ready for visitors on the weekend. We'll be sleeping on Friday. :-)
Love you,
Karen & Harold aka Goddess of All and Horse Whisperer

Finland, Sweden & Denmark
Copenhagen, Denmark
Copenhagen, Denmark
Stockholm, Sweden
Stockholm, Sweden
Stockholm, Sweden
A big stud!
Helsinki, Finland
Our cruise is coming to an end. We only have 1 more port to go to tomorrow, which is Oslo, Norway.
Helsinki was very small and quaint. Everyone was amazed how clean the city was. We went to a midevil town called Porvoo. After, we went to a horse breeding farm and had lunch. The horses were huge! When we toured the stables, and everyone was afraid of the horses but Harold. He was showing us how to pet the horses so they wouldn't be afraid. My "Bird Whisperer" turned into a "Horse Whisperer". He's such a natural!
Other than St. Petersburg, my favorite city has been Stockholm, Sweden. The city is just beautiful! Stockholm is a place we need to come back to.
Today we went to Copenhagen and did the castle tour. The castles rivaled what we saw in St. Petersburg. Darn the Royals have a good life. By the way...so do our diplomats! Every country pointed out the US Embassy. Palaces...I mean palaces. It's our tax dollars hard at work!
We have really lucked out and we haven't had any rain! Most days we can get away with wearing shorts. It sprinkled a few drops today...but nothing more. We've met some very interesting people. Since we are such a tall couple, people have noticed us and are always making comments.
I'm getting really excited to come home. I miss our family! (Karen) Harold would like to stay another week. He is enjoying no stress!

St. Petersburg, Russia
Church of Spilled Blood
(Hermitage Museum)
The Floating Fountain
The Floating Fountain
Hi Everyone,
Last night Harold and I went to the Hermitage Museum. It was the winter palace for the Czars. As I mentioned before, we went after the museum was closed and avoided most of the crowds. It was incredible. We have never been in such a beautiful palace. It is now a museum and we were able to see paintings from Leonardo DaVinci, Rafael, Czennon and a sculpture from Michelangelo. If that wasn't enough, we had champagne and was able to see a Russian ballet in Katherine the Great's private theatre. There was only about 100 people in the audience and we were right up front. We have done some amazing things but this has got to be on the top of the list. The orchestra and dancers were outstanding. We had no idea how cool St. Petersburg would be. The ballet alone was worth the trip.
Today we spent the entire day touring the city. In one palace one room was entirely decorated in amber stone. It's the 8th wonder of the world. We saw Peter and Paul's fortress and cathedral, The Church of Spilled Blood, St. Isaac's Cathedral and the Floating Fountain, which reminded us of the Baligio fountain in Vegas.
Unfortunately, shopping is limited to street vendors and museums. It took us all day just to find a post card! At lunch, we danced with a Russian band and drank vodka! When in Russia...!
Help...it's day 7 and I'm running out of clothes, but my nails look great (Thanks, Hannie!)

Day 6 in the Baltic
Tallinn, Estonia
Hello from St. Petersburg, Russia!
Lithuania was pretty Lame. We ended up going to a freakin' mall! I am very impressed with the stylin' Europeans, they are so small so I couldn't buy anything that would fit me.
Yesterday, we stopped at Tallinn, Estonia. We walked to "Old Town" and ate caviar and drank beer. Some of the buildings dated back to the 12th century. Estonia was part of the Soviet Union at one time. Old Town was very quaint. We almost felt like we were walking down the cobblestone streets in France. By the way, if you want to make purchases with your credit card, make sure your credit card company knows you are out of the country! It saved us money in the end!
Back to Russia...tonight we have an evening tour at the Hermitage. It was the most expensive tour we could book in Russia. It claimed we could visit the museum in the evening, avoiding crowds and seeing the pretty night lights. Funny thing, the sun doesn't set until midnight! I'm sure it will be wonderful, it just made us laugh!
Harold just kicked my butt in cruise ship "putt, putt." He'd better watch out...it's Bingo night!!!
Having a great time...love you all!
